What is included in virtual HYROX coaching?

HYROX training programming and coaching from Storm Wilson, delivered remotely, so you train in your own gym. MOTiV lists it on Google as: Remote HYROX training programming and coaching for competitors at any level.

"Three to four days a week for somebody who's got a lot going on in their life is a great amount of training and you can really do a lot in that time, in that space."

Storm Wilson, founder of MOTiV

What the plan has to prepare you for

HYROX describes the race as running "1km, followed by 1 functional workout station, repeated eight times." The stations are the SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls, and the format stays the same at every event.

That makes HYROX unusually trainable. You know the distances before race day, so every block can point at them.

Who is coaching you

Storm raced NYC HYROX 2026 in approximately 71 minutes in the Solo Open division and is a physical therapist and Certified Endurance Running Coach. When a station keeps beating up your lower back or your calves fade on the runs, you are talking to someone who can tell a training problem from an injury. HYROX coaching is one of the options under performance training and coaching at MOTiV.

Your HYROX plan lives in the MOTiV Performance app, alongside workout logging and communication with Storm. Programming has monthly plan changes and a monthly check-in. Coaching includes adjustments, check-ins and unlimited messages. Performance+ adds weekly training review, two movement video analyses per week, metrics review, race strategy and longevity planning.

How do you balance running, strength and recovery for HYROX?

Start from the number of days you have, then give each of the three demands a place in the week: running, station strength, and running after a station. Recovery is what decides how hard those days can be.

When you only have three or four days

With fewer days, combine rather than cut: one day built around running, one around strength for the sleds, lunges and carries, and one that puts runs and stations together the way the race does.

A fourth day, if you have it, goes to whichever of those three is your weakest.

Soreness or something more?

Some soreness after hard sled or lunge work is expected. Tell your coach when it changes how you run, shows up in the same spot every week, or has not faded by your next session. That is the point to change the plan instead of training through it.

Can I train for HYROX while managing an injury?

Sometimes, yes. Whether you can, and which parts of HYROX training stay in, depends on the injury, and that needs a proper assessment first.

The race mixes running with eight different stations, so an injury that limits one of them may leave others trainable. An assessment tells you which ones.

Remote coaching cannot replace a hands-on exam. If you are near Chattanooga, start with a sports physical therapy evaluation at $150. If you are not, see a clinician near you and share what they find with Storm.

Before you race again after an injury, a return-to-sport test at MOTiV gives you a 60-minute performance assessment of whether your body is ready to race.

Before you book

What do HYROX athletes ask before starting?

What is the best training program for HYROX?

One that covers all three demands of the race: the 8 km of running, the strength for the eight stations, and running hard straight after a station. It also has to fit the days you can train, because a plan you follow for months beats a harder one you drop in week three.

Is HYROX harder than CrossFit?

They test different things. HYROX is a fixed race: eight 1 km runs, each followed by one workout station, in the same format everywhere it is held. Which one feels harder depends mostly on whether your background is running or lifting.

How many days a week should I train for HYROX?

As many as you can repeat every week without skipping sessions. With fewer days, combine running and station work in the same session instead of dropping one of them. Tell Storm how many days you have; the plan has to fit them.

How do I get back to HYROX racing after physical therapy?

In stages, with a test before you race. At MOTiV a 60-minute return-to-sport test, $150, measures whether your body is ready, and coaching then builds the runs and stations back up to race intensity.
