What does rehabilitation at MOTiV include?

One-on-one physical therapy, with dry needling, blood flow restriction training and return-to-sport testing added when your injury calls for them. Every piece is delivered by the same physical therapist.

"Then we'll look at other sports specific movements. So, like baseball versus hockey versus running. There's just different things that need to be looked at."

Storm Wilson, founder of MOTiV

Storm treats new injuries, provides prevention and non-surgical care, and sees many clients after ACL reconstruction and meniscus surgery. His condition list includes neck, back and shoulder pain; hip and knee pain; foot and ankle conditions; and running injuries. Storm is a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist.

MOTiV is a physical therapy clinic inside Be Strong, not an inpatient rehabilitation hospital. It does not offer overnight care, and people who need that level of care should ask their physician where to go.

Which rehabilitation service fits my stage of recovery?

Storm adjusts exercise and treatment to the demands you can tolerate. In the same session, he tests a movement, treats it and retests to see what changed; later assessments check the demands of your activity or sport.

Early: settle it down and find the cause

Your first visit costs $150 and takes about 60 minutes. Your first visit includes completing intake forms to screen for precautions. Storm discusses your goals, assesses movement and strength, and begins exercise and hands-on treatment when appropriate. The dry needling page explains precaution screening, consent and activity guidance.

Middle: rebuild strength

When heavy loads still hurt or are not allowed yet, training with a BFR cuff lets light weights do more. MOTiV's muscle meter puts a number on strength so left and right can be compared.

Late: prove you are ready

Close to full training, a 60-minute readiness test shows what is ready, what is close and what still needs work. Not passing gives you a target, not a failure.

For post-surgery care, Storm follows your surgical restrictions and stage of recovery. Sport-specific testing checks strength, movement control and function. If you do not meet the criteria, you get a remediation plan and next steps before reassessment.

How long does rehabilitation take?

$125per follow-up visit

Storm typically sees clients for 6 to 8 visits. Follow-ups generally take 50 to 60 minutes, and the total number depends on your needs and progress rather than a fixed schedule.

Be Strong clients get 10% off single visits and packages. The discount excludes a la carte services and cannot be combined with other promotions.

All follow-up visits within one episode of care are $125. Your total depends on how many visits you need. You can also buy a package: 4 for $450, 8 for $850 or 12 for $1,200, valid one year. The guide to self-pay physical therapy explains how to pick a package without overbuying.

Ask at each visit what has changed and what would mean you are done. You are paying per visit, so there is no reason to keep coming once you can train on your own.

Before you book

Where does rehabilitation at MOTiV happen?

At MOTiV, unit 113 inside Be Strong at 2101 Chestnut St unit 113, Chattanooga, TN 37408. Free parking lot and street parking. No gym membership is required. The free lot is in front of the building; unit 113 is visible as you enter.

Tuesday and Thursday run until 6 PM, which leaves room for a visit after work. Appointments are required.

What do people ask before starting rehab?

Does MOTiV do rehabilitation after surgery?

Yes. Storm treats many clients after ACL reconstruction and meniscus surgery, and much less after other operations. Bring your surgeon's restrictions so your plan respects them and your stage of recovery. If you call about a condition he does not treat, he will refer you elsewhere.

How is a rehabilitation visit at MOTiV different from a large clinic?

You see the same person every time. Storm Wilson, PT, DPT, OCS does the evaluation and every follow-up one-on-one, and MOTiV sits inside a full gym, so later rehab can use racks, sleds and turf in the same building.

Can I combine physical therapy with dry needling or BFR?

Yes, when they fit the injury. Dry needling and blood flow restriction training are tools inside a physical therapy plan at MOTiV, and Storm decides with you at the evaluation whether either one belongs in yours.

When am I ready to stop rehabilitation and go back to training?

When you can train on your own and know what to do if symptoms return. For a sport or a race, a 60-minute return-to-sport test at $150 replaces the guess with measured strength and movement results.
