What does a longevity assessment include?

Storm examines strength, balance, mobility and endurance in relation to the activities you want to keep as you age. The assessment takes 105 to 120 minutes and includes a detailed action plan.

"Your lifestyle ties into how the full assessment flows."

Storm Wilson, founder of MOTiV

What gets looked at

  • Movement: the patterns you rely on in training and daily life
  • Strength: how much force your muscles produce
  • Mobility: the range your joints reach
  • Balance: how steady you are, standing and on the move
  • Conditioning: how you handle sustained effort

Storm measures strength with a muscle meter and records functional movement on video. He selects additional tests for your life and tolerance, including tests to assess injury risk. Jumping or sport-specific movements may be part of the assessment when they fit your needs.

Where it happens

MOTiV works inside Be Strong, so the assessment has a full gym to work with. The space has free weights, racks, cable machines, treadmills, rowers and bikes, a turf area with sleds, and a muscle meter for measuring strength.

Two hours is long on purpose. Five areas in one visit means no splitting the work across appointments, and there is room to talk through your history and goals as well as test. The assessment is the core of wellness care at MOTiV.

Who should get a longevity assessment?

Anyone who wants a measured starting point for strength, mobility and balance, whether you train five days a week or are getting back into exercise after years away.

Common reasons to book:

  • You are in your 40s, 50s or 60s and want to know where you stand before anything slips.
  • You train hard but only in one style, like running or lifting, and want to see what you are missing.
  • You have finished physical therapy and want a check before training on your own.
  • You want numbers you can retest against later.

Public health guidance points at the same areas. The CDC says that adults 65 and older need "aerobic, muscle-strengthening, and balance activities each week," including "at least 150 minutes at moderate intensity" and "at least 2 days of activities that strengthen muscles." An assessment shows which of those you already cover well and which one needs work.

If something hurts right now, start with a one-on-one PT visit instead. Pain changes what testing is safe and useful.

What do I get after the assessment?

You get a detailed action plan for the findings. Storm reviews your results and priorities with you, then explains what to address and the practical steps to take.

Ways to act on it

Some people take the findings and train on their own. Others want structure: MOTiV's coaching app has a Programming tier at $49 a month, and performance coaching adds more direct input from Storm.

Retesting

A longevity follow-up costs $125 and takes 60 minutes. Storm sets the retest interval based on the significance of your findings, then compares the measures to your starting point.

Before you book

What do people ask about the longevity assessment?

How long is a longevity assessment?

Two hours, in one session with Storm Wilson, PT, DPT, OCS. The cost is $250.

Is a longevity assessment the same as a physical?

No. A physical is a medical exam with your doctor. The longevity assessment is a movement and performance assessment with a physical therapist: it looks at how you move, how strong you are and how well you balance, and it does not replace your regular checkups.

How often should I repeat it?

Storm recommends the interval based on how significant your findings are. A follow-up takes 60 minutes to review progress against the first assessment and decide what to work on next.

What am I paying for with a longevity assessment?

Two hours one-on-one with a physical therapist for $250, covering movement, strength, mobility, balance and conditioning in one session inside a full gym. You leave with a measured starting point to train from and to retest against later.
