What does sports medicine at MOTiV include?
Five services, all delivered one-on-one by Storm Wilson, PT, DPT, OCS: physical therapy, running gait analysis, return-to-sport testing, dry needling and blood flow restriction training. Each has its own page with prices and details.

"Having someone who lives this lifestyle and understands the athlete mind, I think allows me to give those athletes the best experience and try to meet them where they are."
Storm is a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist, a Level 2 certified running gait analyst and a Certified Endurance Running Coach. His HYROX time was approximately 71 minutes in the Solo Open division, NYC 2026. His marathon personal best is 2:52:55 at Cottonwood in 2023. He assesses, treats and retests in the same PT session to check for change, using the muscle meter when objective strength measures are needed.
MOTiV is not a physician practice. Storm provides first-contact injury care, prevention and conservative treatment without surgery. He also treats many clients after ACL reconstruction and meniscus surgery, with much less post-op care for other procedures. If you call about something he does not treat, he will refer you elsewhere.
- Physical therapy for sports and orthopedic injuriesOne-on-one care for knee, hip, shoulder and neck pain or rehab after surgery, from a $150 evaluation.
- Running gait analysisA 75-minute video assessment of your stride that ends in a corrective plan, $190.
- Return-to-sport testingA 60-minute performance assessment of whether you are ready to go back after an injury, $150.
- Dry needling for tight, painful musclesThin needles into targeted muscles at $50 per area.
- Blood flow restriction (BFR) trainingLight-load strength work with a cuff, for when heavy lifting is still off the table.
Which sports medicine service fits my problem?
Start from the problem. Pain or an injury that has not settled usually starts with a physical therapy evaluation; a specific running question can start with a gait analysis.
If something hurts
- Knee, hip, shoulder or neck pain, or rehab after surgery: book an orthopedic physical therapy evaluation.
- A muscle that stays tight and tender: ask about dry needling as part of the plan.
- You need strength back but heavy loads still hurt: BFR training with light weights may fit.
If you are a runner or about to go back
- The same pain at the same mileage every training block: a 75-minute look at your stride.
- Close to full training or competition after an injury or surgery: a return-to-sport test before you go back.
Not sure? Say so when you call (423) 668-0406. Picking the wrong first visit costs you time, so MOTiV would rather sort it on the phone.
How does self-pay sports medicine work?
$150for the initial evaluation
MOTiV accepts self-pay only, not Medicare, Medicaid or commercial insurance. HSA and FSA cards and cash are accepted. The initial evaluation is $150. All follow-up visits within one episode of care are $125. The first visit includes completing intake forms that screen for precautions.
Be Strong clients get 10% off single visits and packages. The discount excludes a la carte services and cannot be combined with other promotions.

Testing is priced per session: running gait analysis is $190 for 75 minutes and return-to-sport testing is $150 for 60 minutes. Dry needling is $50 per area. Follow-up packages bring the per-visit cost down: 4 visits for $450, 8 for $850 or 12 for $1,200, each valid for one year.
Blood flow restriction training is included in all sessions at no extra charge. An itemized superbill is available on request for clinical services actually delivered, but reimbursement is not assured.
Without an insurance company approving visits, the plan is set by you and Storm: how often you come in, what each visit works on, and when you are done. Ask at the evaluation what would count as done.

What do people ask about sports medicine at MOTiV?
Is MOTiV a sports medicine clinic?
Yes, in the way Google lists it: Sports medicine clinic is one of MOTiV's categories on its Google Business Profile. MOTiV is a physical therapy clinic, so its sports medicine is physical therapy, testing and recovery care from Storm Wilson, PT, DPT, OCS, rather than care from a physician.
Do I need a doctor's referral for sports medicine care?
Storm says physician referrals are not required but are welcomed. You can contact MOTiV directly to book. For care after surgery, bring your surgeon's restrictions.
What is the difference between sports medicine and physical therapy?
At MOTiV, sports medicine is the umbrella and physical therapy is the main tool under it. Around the physical therapy sit gait analysis, return-to-sport testing, dry needling and BFR training. Storm is a physical therapist, not a physician. Call if you need help deciding which MOTiV appointment fits your concern.
Can you help me return to running or lifting after an injury?
Yes. Physical therapy treats the injury, and a 60-minute return-to-sport test at $150 measures whether you are ready before you go back. Storm races marathons and HYROX, so the return is planned around the running or lifting you actually do.
