What is red light therapy used for?
At MOTiV it is used for recovery: muscle recovery after hard training, and as an add-on for clients who are recovering from an injury. MOTiV lists it on Google as: Recovery-focused red light therapy sessions available to PT and performance clients.

After training
For training recovery, the research mostly measures muscle soreness and lost strength in the days after very hard exercise: the kind of session that leaves your legs wrecked two days after a big lunge or sled day. What it found is in the next section.
During injury recovery
Cleveland Clinic lists relieving pain and inflammation from ankle tendonitis and knee osteoarthritis among the "potential medical uses being investigated," which means researchers are still testing it. At MOTiV it is used alongside physical therapy.
Not a spa service
MOTiV offers red light only to its PT and coaching clients, by appointment. Existing clients can book a separate session; there are no walk-ins. It belongs to MOTiV's wellness and recovery care, next to the longevity assessment.
Storm uses a Hooga device with wavelengths of 630, 660, 810, 830, 850 and 1060 nm.
What does the research say about red light therapy?
The research on exercise recovery is promising but thin. Reviews report less soreness and faster return of strength in small studies, and rate the overall quality of evidence as low to moderate.
A 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis on delayed onset muscle soreness found that light therapy applied after muscle-damaging exercise improved muscle strength at 24 and 48 hours and lowered soreness ratings at 72 and 96 hours. Fourteen studies met its criteria and four were pooled in the meta-analysis. The authors wrote that it "may be an effective intervention for managing DOMS" and that "further evidence-based research is warranted."
A 2019 review of light therapy for exercise performance and recovery, covering lasers and LEDs, found that recent systematic reviews "showed low to moderate quality of evidence" and that "further research is needed."
One caution when reading any of this: studies use specific wavelengths, doses and devices, and the meta-analysis covered wavelengths from 660 to 950 nm. Results from one setup do not automatically carry over to another.
How do I add red light therapy to my plan?
Become a MOTiV client first, through physical therapy or performance coaching, then ask Storm whether red light sessions belong in your plan.

If you are injured
Start with a sports physical therapy evaluation at $150. Red light, if it fits, is added to your physical therapy plan. It does not replace the exercise and hands-on work that plan is built on.
If you are training
Performance coaching clients can ask about adding appointments around their training. Storm typically schedules four red light sessions a week; discuss how that fits your plan.
Is red light therapy safe, and where is it at MOTiV?
Cleveland Clinic says it "appears to be safe and isn't associated with any side effects, at least, if used short-term and as directed." MOTiV's sessions are at 2101 Chestnut St unit 113, Chattanooga, TN 37408, inside Be Strong.
The same source notes that red light therapy does not use ultraviolet light, and that misuse, such as using it too often or ignoring directions, can damage your skin or unprotected eyes. Its advice for home devices is to shield your eyes. Tell Storm about any eye condition or sensitivity to light before your first session.

"I brought on red light therapy because out of the different light therapies, it has some of the better research behind it and I personally had good success with it."

What do people ask about red light therapy?
What is the average cost of a red light therapy session?
Red light therapy is included with a PT or coaching session. Existing clients can book it on its own for $25 each or $100 for five sessions. Each session lasts 20 minutes. Appointments are required.
Is red light therapy worth it?
For recovery, it may help, but the evidence is limited. A 2025 meta-analysis found better strength recovery and lower soreness ratings after muscle-damaging exercise, and a 2019 review rated the evidence in this area as low to moderate quality. Treat it as an extra on top of training, sleep and rehab, not a replacement for them.
Does red light therapy have downsides?
Cleveland Clinic says red light therapy appears to be safe and is not associated with side effects when used short-term and as directed, and that misuse can damage skin or unprotected eyes. The other downsides are practical: research has not settled what it works for, and it takes time and money that could go to training or rehab.
Can I book red light therapy without being a MOTiV client?
No. Red light therapy is for MOTiV PT and coaching clients only. Existing clients can book a separate red light appointment, but it is not a walk-in service or an option for people who are not MOTiV clients.
