Self-pay and referral questions
How do I pay for physical therapy without insurance?
MOTiV accepts self-pay only, not Medicare, Medicaid or commercial insurance. You can use an HSA/FSA card or cash. An itemized superbill is available on request for clinical services delivered, but reimbursement is not assured. The first evaluation is $150 and each follow-up is $125, or you can prepay 4, 8 or 12 follow-ups for $450, $850 or $1,200.
Self-pay prices and packages explainedHow much does cash-based PT cost?
Per visit, $150 to start and $125 after that. Prepaid packages of 4, 8 or 12 follow-ups lower what each visit costs.
Cash-based physical therapy pricesDo I need a referral for physical therapy in Tennessee?
Not to book at MOTiV: the clinic does not ask for a physician referral before an evaluation or treatment. That is MOTiV's own booking policy.
Referrals and insurance at MOTiVWill insurance pay for dry needling?
MOTiV will not bill it, because MOTiV is self-pay. Any money back would come from your own plan, so the person to ask is your insurer.
Dry needling cost and what to expectWhat is the cancellation and late policy?
Give at least 24 hours of notice to cancel or reschedule. A late cancellation or no-show can cost the scheduled visit fee, with exceptions for emergencies and other significant circumstances. Arriving late shortens your session without reducing the fee.
Prices, packages and the cancellation policyDo packages expire?
After one year. The $450, $850 and $1,200 follow-up packages expire one year after purchase, belong to one named patient and cannot be shared or transferred. They cover PT follow-ups only.

Can I train while I am in physical therapy?
It depends on the injury. What to keep, change or pause gets settled at the evaluation, and the Be Strong gym floor is in the same building as MOTiV.
Sports and orthopedic physical therapyShould I see a physical therapist or a doctor first for a sports injury?
Either can come first for booking, since MOTiV takes appointments without a referral. Red flags such as spreading numbness, sudden severe pain or an injury from a crash belong with a physician before physical therapy.
When to start with physical therapyDoes dry needling actually work?
It helps some people. Cleveland Clinic reports research showing dry needling may ease muscle pain and stiffness. The useful test is how you move in the days after.

What are the downsides of dry needling?
Mostly short-lived soreness and the odd bruise, per Cleveland Clinic. Trouble breathing after needling near the chest is rare but urgent.

Who should not do BFR training?
Anyone with a higher risk of blood clots should have that risk checked by a clinician before starting, which a 2019 review in Frontiers in Physiology recommends. Mention any clot history, recent surgery or circulation problems.
BFR training safety and who it suitsIs BFR training worth adding to rehab, or is regular strength work enough?
Its case is strongest while heavy loads are not advisable, according to a 2019 review. Once heavy lifting feels comfortable again, ask Storm whether the cuff still earns its place.
When BFR training fits a rehab planIs a longevity assessment the same as a physical?
No. Your doctor does a physical, which is a medical exam. MOTiV's 2-hour longevity assessment looks at movement, strength and balance with a physical therapist and sits alongside your checkups, not in place of them.
What the longevity assessment coversWhat am I paying for with a longevity assessment?
Time and measurement: a two-hour, one-on-one session with Storm for $250, with results you can retest against later.
What the 2-hour assessment coversIs red light therapy worth it?
Possibly, for recovery, though the evidence is limited. A 2025 meta-analysis reported better strength recovery and lower soreness after muscle-damaging exercise, while a 2019 review rated the evidence low to moderate. At MOTiV it is offered only to physical therapy and performance clients.

Can I book red light therapy without being a MOTiV client?
It is not sold to the public. Become a physical therapy or coaching client first, then ask whether it suits your plan.

Do I need to be injured to get a gait analysis?
No. It also suits runners who are not hurt: before a race build, after a shoe change, or for a second look at form. The session is 75 minutes and $190.
Running gait analysis in ChattanoogaShould I get a gait analysis from a physical therapist or a running store?
A running store helps you choose shoes; a physical therapist can also weigh your injury history. Choose by the question you are bringing.
Gait analysis with a physical therapistHow do I know I am ready to return to sport after an ACL injury?
Use time since surgery, objective test results and your surgeon's advice together. A 2016 study of 106 athletes after ACL reconstruction found each month of delay, up to 9 months, cut the reinjury rate by 51%.
Return-to-sport testingCan return-to-sport testing help me get back to running or HYROX races?
Yes, endurance athletes included. Bring your target race to the booking so the results can be read against it.
Return-to-sport testing for racersCan I get coaching while I am recovering from an injury?
Mention the injury when you apply. If it still needs treatment, a physical therapy evaluation comes first, and coaching picks up afterward at the same clinic.
Athletic performance coachingHow do I move from physical therapy into coaching at MOTiV?
With the same clinician: physical therapy ends, coaching begins, and a return-to-sport test can sit between the two.
From rehab to performance coachingHow many days a week should I train for HYROX?
Storm describes three to four training days as a good amount for a busy adult. Tell him the days you can commit to so your plan fits your week.
Remote HYROX coaching from MOTiVHow do I get back to HYROX racing after physical therapy?
Test first, then rebuild. A return-to-sport test shows whether you are ready, and coaching brings the runs and stations back up gradually.
Returning to HYROX after an injuryDo I need a gait analysis first?
No, running coaching can start without one. Add the $190 gait analysis if the same pain keeps coming back or you want to change your form.
Remote running coaching from MOTiVCan an online running coach help if I keep getting hurt?
Only part of the way. A plan can manage training load, but recurring pain needs someone to assess it, at MOTiV or with a clinician where you live.
